ICSSR-NWRC is located at Panjab University, Chandigarh, the North-Western Regional Centre of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) was established in 1977. It serves as a nodal agency for promoting and coordinating social science research across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Leh Ladakh, and Chandigarh.
ICSSR, New Delhi, founded in 1969 under the Ministry of Education, aims to foster and support social science research nationwide. The Chandigarh centre acts as a bridge between regional scholars and ICSSR, facilitating collaboration with national and international researchers.
The Centre supports research in disciplines including Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Education, Psychology, Law, History, Gender Studies, Journalism, Strategic Studies, Environmental Studies, and more.
ICSSR-NWRC is dedicated to advancing social science research through capacity-building initiatives, academic engagement, and scholarly collaboration. Our workshops aim to nurture critical thinking, support young researchers, and facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue. Through cultivating a dynamic academic community, we support innovative research and data-driven policymaking throughout the North-Western region.
